We’ve been very busy this month – busy enough that we haven’t been able to blog! But that doesn’t mean we’ve given up! Today we’re updating you on our past, current and future projects!
1. Letter Writing
Over the course of two weeks, we’ve had our members of the KEAP chapter at Sayre write political letters on H. Res. 29, a resolution that will support climate change in our communities if passed in the House of Representatives.
We learned how to format and write a convincing but brief argument as constituents. Those letters were mailed to our representative, Andy Barr, this weekend!
2. New Chapter
We have a new chapter of KEAP at Lexington Catholic! We are so excited to work with Morgan Cameron (class ‘23) and Isaiah Cummins (class ‘22) this year!
3. Plaques
We are still hoping to fundraise for plaques to place at the base of our trees. To whom these plaques will be dedicated is yet to be planned but we are optimistic we can figure it out before school ends.
4. Speaker
Alana Bloomfield, a Sayre alum, came to speak to the Sayre chapter about her journey to reduce her carbon footprint, a goal that has become more difficult with COVID.
There are only a few weeks left in the school year so attempting to accomplish more before summer will be a challenge, but we can do it! We have a huge project in the works right now. Once that is further along you’ll be able to read about it here!
