Over a video conference, 14 countries promised to manage one hundred percent of oceans under their jurisdictions by 2025. After scientists warned that a lack of action would cause us to lose vital resources, these countries decided to take action to protect their culture and their earth. Surprisingly, this group is not made of the usual international like France, United States, and Russia, which all have concerned high carbon footprints. National Geographic explains that the group did not reach out to them because they felt the high politics would get in the way of progress. Hopefully, in the future they will choose to join. Our oceans and our society depend on it.
