Last week, the flash flooding of the Red and Kentucky rivers caused Governor Beshear to announce a state of emergency for at least thirteen counties in the Red River Gorge area. Many people have had to flee their homes with little to no belongings and many others became stranded. Firefighters have been working for an estimated 72 hours to rescue these people.
It’s these people that need our help right now. At Sayre, we are taking in cases of water bottles to be brought to Eastern Kentucky. For those who want to help in other ways, photographer Lila Simpson created a GoFundMe and created a relief resource for those who want to drop off supplies.
In these difficult times, donating to people in need is a great way to share kindness.
